Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden title for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

He rescued 4 early opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
