Area Police
Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police say they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.
A high-ranking political figure said the incident rendered him without words and needed to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
